SUNDAY CHILLS | What Do You Want From 2016?

For some, laying out your long term goals may be a challenging task. It's like having a long list of things on your to-do list with absolutely no strategy of how you are going to accomplish them. The list ends up remainging on your bed-side table all year long and on December 31st you wake up, realise it's nearly 2017, look over at your list and digest the fact that the year was all a waste of time and you have not done anything that you wanted to do!

Honestly that can be the worst feeling! I mean, 365 days have really gone by!!!

This used to be me, but luckily enough, I changed my strategy.

My favourite thing to do is to use a planner. Preferably a stylish one with an inspirational quote on it (yes I'm picky, lol) This particular one is from horacioprinting.com. It's where I brainstorm, put ideas together, details of people I want to work with, and so much more!

If you ever got a chance to look inside my planner, it's full of colourful spider diagrams. I am a big creative spongeball so I love that sort of thing.

I will share with you some of my goals this year, they are more about my mental well-being than anything else, but here goes.

1. Peace of mind - you all know that feeling when nothing worries you right? It's like positivity and tranquility are just flowing through your veins.
2. READ READ READ! - Reading puts me in to a world of my own. It's powerful in how it can change your whole outlook on a particular subject. - non-fiction is my fav.
3.Good (Great) Grades - Whoever said school was not easy, surely wasn't not lying! But this is probably the biggest thing I have to achieve this year. So, I'm going to start by speaking things in to existence.
4. To stay out of my 'comfort zone'. - It's the only way you can grow. I promise!
5. Inspire others -  A wise person once said - “Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.”
6. And for you my blog readers! - (you know I couldn't leave you out) I want to work on bringing you more exciting and interesting content, post more regularly (guilty *hides face*), and make things more interactive on here so we can discuss more issues and I can get to know you all more!

What do you want from 2016?

The Make Up Starter Kit! ~Part One •

Hey girls!
Happy New Year!!!! Wow it feels like I haven't done a post in ages, (Well technically it has been a year) but we just had to take a quick break and sort some things out for you our readers.

As I'm sure you've all noticed, we changed our layout! You like? It was definitely time for a change and hopefully this means more blessings too, as we expand our blog and give you new content, whoop whoop!

So how did your holidays go.. Let me know. Did you go on holiday? Anywhere special where you wouldn't mind taking me next year.. Did I mention that I love travelling..?

And on that note, let's get started with today's post...

I think many people underestimate the difference a primer can make under your make up. Not only does it make it last longer but it makes the application process a whole lot easier, and who wouldn't wan't that? This is to be used over your daily moisturiser and you will notice the difference when applying your foundation.
Now, you can chose to go either high end, medium or low when it comes to primers. An example of a high end product would be the Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base which retails for £34 here in the UK.

Personally, I prefer to go for a medium end primer such as, the Mac Matte Cream Matifiante for £16. This is great for anyone who has oily skin particularly in the T-Zone area.
Lastly, I have heard great reviews about the Maybelline Baby Face Primer which is inexpensive and actually works well for a retailing price of £9.

Foundation, Foundation, Foundation.

Now I must admit I'm not a big foundation wearer. I prefer to throw on some BB cream or just apply concealer as I find that I do not need much coverage. Nevertheless, I would really recommend the Esteé Lauder Double Wear Foundation that I am sure you would have all heard about by now. It will give you a FLAWLESS coverage and for £30 is surely worth it!

Taking things down a notch and probably the most popular foundation that most would have started off with is the Mac Pro Longwear Foundation. Although I do like this foundation, I still would invest in something like Estée Lauder. Especially if you need the high coverage as foundation is ideally the foundation for the rest of your makeup so finding the correct one for your skin type is key. Again their are many you can chose from like matte, liquid or even foundation sticks.
All though many prefer to use the Bobbi Brown Foundation Sticks for contouring, they are essentially a foundation so you could also give them a go!

Concealing and Contouring

Yay! I love concealing and my go-to concealers have to be the La Girl Pro Conceal in the colours 'cool tan and 'almond'. Almond is more like my skin colour so it gives me a nice natural look, whilst Cool tan really makes my face pop. For £4 over here in the UK you cannot pass these up! They really do work well. You can also use the darker shades for contouring as well, they are so easy to use and sell a range of colours to fit your skin shade.
As I mentioned before, the Bobbi Brown Foundation Sticks also work great for contouring.
With contouring, you want to make sure you do not go too dark as this can often be hard to blend out and can end up looking unnatural. Instead, opt for a shade only a couple of shades darker than your skin tone. That way the contour line does not look too harsh.

When doing your makeup you will need a range of powders to set everything in place. Firstly it will be a good idea to get your hands on a  powder for setting your concealer. I prefer to use the Ben Nye Powders and these come in a range of shades, depending on your skin tone. The only shade is not 'Banana'!!! You need to look for what suits you otherwise these powders can end up looking slightly ashy. If you are a darker tone, you may want to try out the colour 'Topaz', which should blend great.

You will then need a powder to set your foundation. I tend to use the Mac Mineralize Skinfinish powder which makes sure everything is nicely blended and in place.

When it comes to highlighting and contour powders my favourite palette is the Sleek Contour kit in the colour medium.

It is easy, compact and gives a lovely glow.

If you would like to go all the way 'Amrezy' on them however, I am In love with the Anastasia Beverley Hills Illuminator. If you have not heard of this where have you been?!!!

Your highlight will reach the heavens and glorify Jesus's name with this I promise! I've tried to get my hands on this in the UK for ages but now there is finally a website where you can get all of your American products from if you are over here in the UK like myself.

So that is it for now. We have discussed the face side of things. Stay tuned to read all about the products for your eyes, lips, eyebrows and lets not forget the brushes!

Thank you for reading and don't forget to subscribe to our newsletter!

Happy New Year, you. Best guess, you made some New Year resolutions, didn’t you? It includes travel, being nicer to yourself and saving. Saving means cutting back on purchases. Less morning coffee, less extra snacks at lunch and less makeup shopping.

Did that strike a little nerve? As women, we buy way too many beauty products. And these companies, always have us salivating for the next new thing. You cannot help it. Me too. So today, I bring you a fun way to save on your makeup purchases.

An inventory is used to take stock and replenish as needed. It is also used to monitor the number of items owned. In our case, we are talking about keeping an inventory of lipsticks. Lipsticks because they are the smallest items in our makeup bags/collections. They are the most fun to play with and have the most variety.

A lot of companies least priced items are usually lipsticks so if you are a product junkie, you probably have more lipsticks than you do other makeup items. In writing this post, I decided to have a come to Jesus moment. I counted my lipstick collection and all in all, I am at 68 lipsticks. Do not judge me.

When a lipstick collection is first launched, most people pick a few or all the colors. This may lead to buying a particular shade twice or worse, three times. Red is red but it’s different from orangey red or is it? I have definitely counted doubles in my collection. So here’s a solution.

Get a thick paper or jotter. Preferably resume paper. Then arrange your favorite lipsticks by name, brand and a good swipe. Hang to dry, say overnight.

Then keep it close for those days you are tempted to online shop or taking that Sephora trip.My best advice is to swap your most used lipsticks on the paper or jotter. This will save you money, time and take out the guess game when shopping for lipsticks. Hopefully, this helps in the accountability department this year.
